I've been selling on ebay since 2006 when I was a Cingular Wireless agent. having a good product and if you are only one selling, not many sellers compete with you , then you have a great change of making money online...
I was selling Cingular packaged OEM(Cingular branded) Packaged Car Charger, Home Chargers, and Leather Case also Leather pouch in 2006. these products were sold in any Cingular Wireless store for $30. but my cost was less than $3.50.. I was selling from $15 up to $20. there not many agents like me wanting to sell online because most of the store are either company owned or multi-store franchise and they are not interested in selling cheaper than $30 an item.. profit for them in the store for each item is more than $25 bucks!!!
My products had a value because people buying knows it's a $30 product at any Cingular stores.
unfortunately Cingular which is now AT&T terminated all the sub-agent contracts and I lost the purchasing ability once i'm not related to AT&T...
TO START WITH EBAY
when you start with Ebay.you can only list total of 10 items. after 30 days, you can request more listings by calling ebay seller's supports team. they will monitor your sales and make sure you are doing correctly with selling. it takes about 1 year before you can list 5000 items (ofcourse not all of your items will even sell..). you need to work your way up to become TOP RATED SELLER which will boost your sales to double.. every item you list to sale have a listing fee from 10 cents to 5 cents depends which store package you choose.. there's ebay anchor which will cost you $100 for 3000 listings included and 5 cents every listing there after.. these fees renew every month. so listing 5000 listing a month with anchor store will cost you around $300 per month.
there's also final sale fees.. 10% to 8% of total sales plus a little paypal fee. which means when you sell $10 item you will pay around $1.50 total fee to ebay. but it does go lower a little when you sale a higher priced item..
NEXT IS AMAZON
UNLIMITED listing from day 1.
when you sell an item , you agree to pay $1 extra per item plus 15% of total sales
minimum fee is $1 even if item sales less than $7.50.
PRO store is perfect... $40 per month + 15% of total sales.
if you don't sell anything all you paid was $40 monthly fee.with ebay these monthly fees goes up to hundreds.
